Soft Tissue Grafts in Colorado Springs
Preserving Your Teeth & Health
If you suffer from receding gums, Dr. Hill performs soft tissue grafting to restore your gum tissue and give you back a beautiful smile without damaging the roots of your teeth. During your initial exam, we’ll thoroughly clean and examine your teeth and gums to determine the best type of graft that meets your needs. We can perform several types of grafts, and the specific one you need will ultimately depend on your oral history, as well as the condition of your current mouth.

What Are Soft Tissue Grafts?
Gum tissue can change and shrink, and there are many reasons for this including, receding gums (from gingivitis or periodontal disease) and loss of one or more teeth (which causes tooth-less gum tissue to shrink). Replacing lost gum tissue can restore the natural contour of your smile.
We can augment or replace gum tissue by a variety of means, including soft tissue grafts, which are small pieces of tissue taken from other areas such as the palate, which is then surgically implanted in the affected area. During the procedure, Dr. Hill will stitch the grafting tissue onto the areas of the gums that need additional support.
Gum augmentation procedures can also be used to:
- Cover exposed roots
- Stop bone loss
- Reduce pain-causing root sensitivity
- Improve appearance of gummy smiles
